It's never boring, as the situation is never exactly the same...just ask a delivery captain. The skills one needs to become relatively proficient and self-sufficient while underway, often far from immediate assistance, include a broad variety of seamanship topics ...to find our way, to stay put where we want to, to be safe under varied conditions, to know how to care for health concerns, to fix what's broken, among others.
